Have you ever seen something in your area that made you think "I wish I could show that to all my neighbours!" Well, now you can.
There are many times when a crime could be prevented if the victim was able to recognise the perpetrator as someone
other residents had had problems with. For example, if you recognised someone as a known con-man, you would probably
not let them into your house 'to use the phone', however convincing they were. And a woman living alone
would avoid hiring a gardener if they knew he had a history of theft and violence. So this can be a useful
for Neighbourhood Watch organisations, or Residents' Associations.
On the other hand, it is easy to forget that the vast majority of people are honest, and want nothing more than a peaceful life and to
earn their daily bread. It is sad that the anti-social actions of a few can make us suspicious of everyone we
see. So CaughtOnline.org also allows us to draw on the experience of others, and to be more able to show
some kindness to those honest people who are known in our neighbourhood.
Other things you may wish to record here are acts of pollution or other environmental damage, and abuse of public property, such as government vehicles.
